Leprechaun Trap

Maren got to make a leprechaun trap for school this year. She was very excited about it. I wasn't too thrilled, but it turned out to be kind of fun. Scott and Maren brain stormed (Maren told Scott that his ideas were way better than hers) and then went shopping to buy supplies and even got a glue gun. I think my sister-in-law, Michelle, was a little surprised when she asked to borrow my glue gun last year and I told her I didn't have one.
Scott got the project started with the girls and then I had to finish up after Scott left for a couple of days for work. Maren, Lydia and Martha gathered sticks for the ladder, colored the rainbow, and attempted to help glue the moss on. After a few burns with the glue gun though, I just did that by myself. As I was finishing up Maren said, "This is kind of more a mommy and daddy project and I'm just helping."
We thought it turned out cute. If you can't tell, which you shouldn't be able to, there is a trap door under the pot of gold. Maren's excited to go back to school tomorrow and see if she caught a leprechaun over spring break.

Got to love those projects that are more parent than child! But the smiles say it all! Life is good in first grade! Miss you.

I'm glad you got a glue gun. I promise, you'll use it all the time! I didn't miss making a leprecaun trap this year... but if I were small and green, I would have fallen for yours!
