It turned out to be a lot of fun. The kids loved riding the metro. It was a little colder than we had planned on, but the kids survived.
The Theatre has a museum underneath that was really interesting and informative. The kids got a little tired of it, but I definitely could have stayed longer.
Upstairs is the theatre where Lincoln was shot. They still have plays there. By this point the kids were hungry and ornery. I thought it was very cool. In the background you can see the theatre box Lincoln was sitting in when he was shot.
After that we decided to walk by the White House. It was a little farther away then we had thought and we ended up at the back. We decided it was not worth the time it would take to walk to the front because the kids were finished.
The White House looks much smaller in the back then I thought it would. I still need to see the front so I can compare.

holy cow, I completely forgot you guys were moving to DC, I bet there are so many cool things to do there!
I love that picture of caleb and maren in the theater box...perfectly describes the way maren must have been feeling. Hilarious!
Oh, and I just realized we forgot to call on lydia's birthday. Maybe we can skype the kids tomorrow and see how the festivities went.
The back looks as "impressive" as I remember the front.... It is fun to see....What an adventure you are having. Great memories.
