We finally made it to the beach with our swimming suits last weekend. We went to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina and it was a great beach; nice showers, not too crowded, decent bathrooms, great sand. Maren and Lydia had a great time digging in the sand, finding seashells, and even ventured into the ocean. Maren didn't like the ocean much, but Lydia did until a wave hit her in the face. After that she would only go into the water if Scott or I were holding her. Martha Ann wasn't the best age for the beach. I set her down in the sand for a moment and she immediately grabbed two huge handfuls of sand and tried to stuff them in her mouth. After that I pretty much held her the whole time. She loved snack time though!
I really enjoyed the beach. I'd forgotten how much I love to just stand in the ocean and feel the waves coming and playing in the sand. I do not enjoy the cleanup though. What a mess!
