National Air and Space Museum

On a recent Saturday we headed to the National Air and Space Museum. This one had at least a few things that the kids were interested in. As long as there are displays with buttons to push, the kids will be entertained for a few minutes.

This was an airplane that the kids could sit in and make the back wings on the tail move by pushing and pulling and turning the controller in the cockpit.

Lydia thought it was great.

Martha Ann checking out her blind spot.

This is waiting to go in and see the inside of the Skylab 4 command module, a manned space station that astronauts lived and worked in in space. The longest mission lasted almost three months. It was fun to see inside. I can't imagine living in such a small space for three months with two other people. It was fun to see their sleeping spaces where they would strap themselves in standing up.

Martha Ann just wanted to chill and look at the airplanes in the middle of the walk way.

You could spend forever in these museums. We probably only looked at a 1/5 of the museum before our kids were done. It would be better if the kids would let us actually read the displays so we knew what we were looking at, but oh well.
Even though it would be nice to be here in the spring for the weather, it is nice to be here when it's not tourist season. They say it is just packed in the spring and summer. I really don't like crowds and don't think I'd really enjoy it as much, especially with our kids.

Looks fun, Grandpa Lindstrom would love to see that museum. He was amazed by flight. We would often go to the airport and just watch the planes take off and land.

I better not let Chauncey read your blog. You know how he is about museums. He'd be begging me to come visit.
Looks like everyone had fun.
