On New Year's Day we just needed to get out of the house. We ended up going to Theodore Roosevelt Island for a walk. It is an island close by downtown D.C that has a monument to Roosevelt and some paths to walk through the forest. It would be really pretty in the summer.

This was the statue and there were monuments around that had some of his famous sayings on them.

Lydia did not want to be there. This was a rare smile after going over to the bench to pout.
The girls enjoyed climbing around. We went on a walk and it was extremely muddy. Martha Ann did numerous face plants in the mud. She was a mess. I should have taken a picture.

This was before all of the falls. It was nice to be outside despite the mud. The girls, minus Lydia, enjoyed exploring in the woods and seeing everyone walking their dogs.
